Guidelines and Specs

Hello! Here's a quick re-cap of the magazine:

- Each contributor should by now have been assigned the first and last lines of a book. These are just a starting point for your work - you don't necessarily have to stick to the theme of the book at all, or even know which book the lines came from. You can link the two lines into a double page spread or you can choose to use each line to inspire a separate single piece (in which case bear in mind that they'll still be displayed facing each other, but with a margin in the gutter - see examples). We're looking for a mixture of everything - illustration, writing, photography, 3D, the more variety the better!

- The format of the magazine is 20x25 cm, with a 1cm safety margin around the edges of each page (eg, don't put anything you value too dearly in this space in case it gets chopped by accident!).

- The typeface for the lines is Adobe Caslon Pro, 8pt, and it must be semi-bold. The horizontal strips that they sit in are 7mm high and can be as long as you like and in any position you like, as long as they bleed off the edge of the page.

- All of the inner pages will be in black and white, so please bear that in mind when working with photos etc. All images must also be 300dpi.

- Since the cover is going to be printed on a variety of colored paper, if there's any particular paper you'd like your own copy bound in, please bring it in on Tuesday.

Hope that all makes sense, if there's any questions/suggestions/feedback  please post here or email firstlastmagazine@googlemail.com. The deadline for submissions will be next Friday (25th), but if you're able to get any drafts in to us earlier than that, all the better.
